NY Stylist, Katyi Haugh’s Top 5 Summer Must Haves

Who better to get fashion advice from than a New York City stylist?  Kayti Haugh attended the University of Georgia, Fashion Institue of New York, and Polimoda in Italy, and currently spends her days [and sometimes nights] combining her “nomadic spirit and wanderlust” for life with her knock-out fashion sense.  She has been working in NY, LA, and Europe as a freelance stylist since 2005 on magazine editorials, celebrity photo shoots, lookbooks, costume design for commercials, and more.  I asked Kayti to pick her Top 5 Summer Must Haves and the result is a fabulous look that will definitely make you the envy of all your friends [and who doesn’t want that?!]!

Must Have #1:  WHITE JEANS [or light colored jeans]

“I love the look of something fresh this summer and white / light washes deliver that.  I like to pair white with a cool patterned oxford shirt, sleeves rolled, or with a colorful summer blouse.  With light washes, I try to create a monochromatic look… these gray Uniqlo jeans fit great and look effortlessly chic with a white v-neck shirt.”

Must Have #2: SHORT BOOTS

“A rugged short boot is a great juxtaposition with a short, flirty dress.  Or pair them with shorts… Show off those legs!  These boots will keep you grounded while your head is in the clouds this summer.  I adore Frye boots because of their great quality and cool new styles.”

“The bright, Aztec print of this dress makes a bold statement.  The fabric was dyed and woven by hand, so it is really unique.  The full short skirt accents legs and the criss-cross back reveals sexy shoulders.  Pair a little T under for more versatility.  It’s the perfect thing to wear on a warm day to museums, parks, BBQs, etc…”

Steven Alan Cruiser Dress in Aztec Red

“I am really into backs this summer and a one piece with a scoop back draws a lot of attention to the back.  I love the print on this one piece… It is colorful yet has an earthy feel.  Add some chunky bracelets and a pair of rolled up ripped shorts for daytime around the pool.  Take it into night by throwing on a mens style lightweight blazer.”

Topshop Feather Print Swimsuit

I am an extremist…  when it comes to bracelets, I either like them wispy and thin, or thick and chunky.  Right now, the weight of jewelry and having it hang heavy on the wrist really appeals to me.  I love mixing different types and colors and this Bing Bang jewelry does just that.  It can add to an tough, biker inspired look or can add some edge to an otherwise feminine outfit.”

it’s gonna be tough to find that swimsuit this season since it’s not in the summer 2010 topshop line. especially if you are in the US. i even checked ebay uk and nothing. past season swimsuits are hard to get. too bad there’s not a topshop outlet here to check. if anyone else has any ideas, feel free to comment!
