Review: MINTED

I’m always happy to do a review when I think the product or site is something my readers are into.  Minted carries a huge selection of greeting cards, birth announcements, wedding invitations, journals, art prints, decorations and more!  Many of their designs are customizable and there are lots of options to fit anyone’s style.

One of my favorite aspects of Minted is that they use the work of independent artists for many of their designs – which adds an originality and personal element to the products.  They hold Design Challenges where artists submit their work, fans vote, and the winners’ works get sold on the site!  Pretty cool.

The customization is super easy.  Just select a card, upload your photo, edit colors & text (if you want to), and you’re finished!  You even have options for changing the shape.

I thought this Classroom Valentine I started working on was super cute.  Great idea for handing out at school!

I had no idea they also had party decorations like these – I can’t resist the gold circles.

Some pretty stationery designs.

More party supplies!

Unique and large selection art prints.

So I guess I have nothing bad to say about Minted – They really do have a great selection, are easy to use, and support independent design.  Three cheers!!  XO

Star Wars Decor

My husband has a thing for Star Wars [gee, what guy doesn’t?].  He has a few tees and some little figurines [that we keep in his upstairs office – aka out of sight] and he and Ava have Star Wars battles with the lightsabers he bought her.  A little bit of novelty can be fun.

Like this print from Restyle Prints that I bought & framed and allowed into our living room.

I actually kind of like this Imperial Forces Wallpaper from Super7.

And this nursery featured on Apartment Therapy?  Almost makes me want to make another baby.

Another bedroom – by Mary of Quite Contrary.

Spring Fever – Art Roundup Inspired by My Longing for Spring

It may be snowing outside, but I can hear the sweet song of the birds luring spring to come.

IMG_9339

You know when you start hearing that chirping that spring MUST be coming soon [please, mother nature, please!].  I am so tired of the color gray – I cannot remember the last time I saw the sunshine or the color green.  I do love the snow – especially untouched snow, blanketed over the streets and yards – no footprints, no tire tracks, but I’ve had enough of it and I’m ready for the melting and awakening to begin.

These beautiful and colorful prints are reproductions of artist, Yangyang Pan’s original “Blossom” watercolor series.  Originals are also available at the artist’s Etsy shop, Siiso Visual Art.

These prints remind me of these lines from Emily Dickinson’s “A Light Exists in Spring”:

A Color stands abroad
On Solitary Fields
That Science cannot overtake
But Human Nature feels.

This gorgeous photographic print is the work of Jennifer Simpson.  Her work is airy and has a daydream quality to it – makes me feel like running through a meadow with the scent of blooming flowers at my nose and warm sunshine all around me.

This is a photo of one of Marie Antoinette’s hamlets at Versailles.  So romantic and enchanting … like a little secret garden or something.  I want to run away to France … ahhhhhhhh.  Find this print and more at A La Parisienne on Etsy.

I thought I would finish this roundup with a burst of color and this “Las Guitarras” print almost jumps off of the page!  So bright and bold!  I love it.  Taken by the great eye of M. Campbell – Zurek.
