Rachael Ray Makes Bacon

Well, Rachael Ray has really outdone herself with this one … a recipe for Late Night Bacon.

Ingredients – Bacon.  Directions – “Place 2 sheets of paper towel on a microwave safe plate, lay the bacon out on the paper towel not over lapping the slices. Place 2 more sheets of paper towel on top. Place in the microwave on high for 6 to 13 minutes.”

Wow.  Even more hilarious than the fact that this recipe is listed on Food Network’s site are all of the comments ….

Hi Rachel Ray,
I have a huge dilemma. I love, love, love bacon and your recipe sounds DELICIOUS! But I’m just can’t stay up until “late nite”. What do I do???!!! Can you please urgently post a morning or preferably a mid to late morning bacon recipe? Thanks!
(from petersf)

“Rachel, would you PLEASE post this recipe in other languages? I feel it needs to be shared with other cultures. I also think you should bring this to the United Nations and conduct a workshop or something. You’re really onto something here. I know that some people think you look and sound like a waitress at a truck stop, but I don’t agree with that AT ALL!” (from angie)

“I was really hoping to combine this scrumptious recipe with some toast, but I can’t find the recipe anywhere on the Food Network. Rachel, please help me…if you know how.” (from teacher105)

And there are many many more.  Worth a read for a good laugh.

Natural Flavor?

I’ve been too busy unpacking and dealing with incompetent utility companies to have time to find things to blog about, but my Cousin Val sent me this photo I thought was so funny I had to share it.

Natural Flavor with OTHER Natural Flavor????  C’mon, Triscuits.  Seriously??  Just too funny.

Ridiculously Cute Baby Blog

I have to give the credit to Michael for finding this.  Adele, a mom in Helsinki, waits until her baby is napping and sets up the cutest little scenes and posts them in a blog titled, “Mila’s Daydreams“.  So cute that it made me feel a little better [awful summer cold].  Also so cute that I almost want another baby just so I can do this.  Almost.

Ava never would have slept through this.

Take Their Knitting Needles Away

I’ve been short on time this week and am super short on time today as we are heading up to Peekskill and Cold Spring, NY to check out a house and drive around, so I am relying on Craftster to give me what I need to get you your weekly dose of funny, weird, and interesting finds!

That is a crocheted salad hat.  Yes, a salad hat.  You wear what you eat??? [groan]

This next one was listed under the title, “Awesome new tiny shirt!” … um, she can’t be serious, can she?  Did she run out of yarn?  Is the shirt for someone else?  I don’t get it … apparently, neither does she. [Sorry!]

I thought I had seen it all, but onesies with the faces of the cast of Law & Order SVU stitched into them?!?!?  You are under arrest.  [Although I must admit that the embroidery work is pretty good.]

And now I will leave you with this weird “How To” instructional guide find.  “How to Know What to Carry in Your Purse“.  Seriously, if you need a ‘how to’ guide for this, you don’t deserve a purse.

Catch you Monday!!! XO

Saturday: “Laugh Out Loud”

I’m sure that like me, most of you receive an IM or email at least once a week containing a ridiculous joke, picture, or YouTube video.  Today I am paying homage to those quirky virals with my own twist.  Keeping with the catergory themes of the blog, I bring you my picks for the funniest, quirkiest, and downright weirdest creations I have come across this week.

I found this outrageous “Shark Attack Hat” in a knitting forum at Craftster, where one of their mottos is “Cute Doesn’t Need a Reason”.  Even more outrageous than the hat itself [which is actually kind of cute] is the poster’s comment, “I saw the dead fish hat pattern and loved the idea”.  Seriously?

I was first introduced to Margaux Lange’s creations when a friend of mine purchased one of her rings for his girlfriend.  They are strange, but in a good way.  Necklaces, rings, brooches, bracelets, earrings, and custom works.

If you are here in NYC, she’s going to be at the BUST Spring Fling Craftacular this Sunday in Brooklyn.

When I first came across these baby head pottery creations by Sue Kniffin Davidson of Kniffin Pottery, I was a little creeped out, but I must admit they have really grown on me and I think I totally want an upsidedown baby head bowl or mug.  I’m not sure I would eat my cereal or drink my coffee out of one, but it would definitely make for a conversation piece on the mantle or bookshelf.

And that’s it for today, folks.  Enjoy the weekend!!!
