Moonstruck! (Lunar Items for You & Your Home)

I’m really into the whole ‘moon trend’ that seems to be on the uprise.  Who doesn’t love the moon?

Now you can show off your Moon Love both night and day.

Give your finger a celestial feel with this Bronze Full Moon Ring by cells dividing .

Pretty sure I will soon be rocking this Moon Phases Tank available at Brandy Melville .

Super cool Trompe L’Oeil Lunar Floor Mat from Urban Outfitters .

I love this Aluminum Moon Phases Cuff by Neurons not included .

A giant moonlight wall decal?  Heck yes!  (from i3lab)

Speaking of giant moons on walls … Laura Gummerman did this AMAZING painted gold moon DIY for A Beautiful Mess and it is other worldly for sure.  I am in love.

It’s Moon Time!!!  Glowing Moon Wall Clock from Think Geek .

I thought this vintage moon print sweatshirt from The Salton Sea looked super comfy.

And I saved my favorite for last.  A screenprinted moon phases calendar from Little Lark.  It satisfies my obsession with the moon and with gold.  This will be mine … today.  Seriously, I’m adding it to my cart right after I finish this post!

Happy Moon Gazing, Everyone!  XO

Macrame is Back!

I’m really excited to see macrame making a comeback.  When I was a kid we had a macrame owl with wooden bead eyes hanging in the living room.  I probably made fun of my mom for having it at some point and now I wish she still had it.  I recently spotted some really pretty and quite modern looking macrame pieces I thought I would share (I also included links to some simple knotting techniques.).  I think I know what DIY project I’m adding to my list!

White & Neon Pink Plant Hanger via Pipni & Yellow Plant Hanger via The Vintage Loop

Natural Wall Hanging via Warp & Weft & Fringe Wall Hanging via Slow Down Productions (I heart fringe.)

Fringed Macrame Purse via True Rebel Clothing & Red Macrame Purse via Two Moxie (too cute!)

Macrame Dreamer (I LOVE THIS) via Ouch Flower (Check out their awesome tassels too!)

It’s Friday: “Let’s Get Personal”

I have almost completed my first week of blogging and thought it was about time I shared a little about who I am and what this blog is all about.

I grew up in a small town in Ohio and moved to New York City 14 years ago.  For the past three years I have been living in the Williamsburg neighborhood of Brooklyn.  When I first moved to the city, I worked as a waitress and model and then onto a string of jobs in fashion and advertising.  I eventually ended up in the music industry, where I handled international marketing and public relations for about seven years.  I then went to work for a photography agency as a talent rep and producer.  Blah, blah, blah.  After finding out I was pregnant with my first baby, my other half and I decided that I would stay at home and focus on being a mommy.  Michael works as a Senior Art Director at a boutique ad agency and is a loving and supportive father.

Here is a picture of us on Mother’s Day on our way to brunch:

I feel blessed to have this precious time with our daughter day in and day out, but need some sort of creative outlet.  I just resumed rehearsals with the band I am in [I sing … and promise to post a song soon], but I wanted to be able to share my experiences and finds with other moms and like-minded people.  Ava is about to turn six months old, just started crawling, and just sprouted her first tooth.  The photo of her screaming in the big sunglasses was taken when she was two weeks old and was the inspiration for Furious Shirley.

For each day of the week, there will be a different theme featuring products and inspiration from myself, independent creators, and moms just like you.  Here’s the breakdown:

Mondays – “Things I Like” – cute things, things I can’t live without, good advice, submission reviews, etc.
Tuesdays – “All About the Babers” – everything baby
Wednesdays – “I’m Hungry” – recipes, kitchen gadgets, food related topics
Thursdays – “Get Dressed” – fashion and trends
Fridays –  “Let’s Get Personal” – interviews with interesting people
Saturdays – “Laugh Out Loud” – things that make me and hopefully you smile
Sundays – “Lazy Sundays” – miscellaneous post day

I want this blog to grow to be a portal for creative minded people to share themselves and their workIf you have a product, service, recipe, etc. that you think should be featured/reviewed on the blog, please email me.
